A Guide to Frugal Dating

Strapped for cash?
Below are some inexpensive date ideas to keep your relationship thriving and thrifty.

Spend some time off campus.
Not finding Comm Ave very romantic? Plan a picnic lunch at Boston Common, explore the quaint back roads of Beacon Hill, or grab dim sum in Chinatown.

Get cozy at home.
Save money and get close by watching a romantic movie by candlelight. You could also have a more social evening by hosting a potluck/board game night with other couples.

Do something outside the box.
Why not volunteer at a soup kitchen or join a neighborhood clean-up? Make your date memorable and unique by teaming up with the BU Community Service Center.

Get active.
Go bowling at Jillian’s in Fenway, play pool at Beantown Pub downtown, or take a romantic bike ride along the Charles River with Hubway’s bike rentals.

Go stargazing on Comm Ave.
Observe the night sky together at BU’s Coit Observatory during Public Open Night throughout the year.

Cruise the calendar.
Visit the BU Calendar and Boston.com to find various events both on-campus and all around the city. Search by category to find upcoming music, theater, comedy, and cultural events. Many of these events are free and you may also be able to take advantage of discounts with your student ID!

SPREAD THE HEALTH: You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy couple-time. Take advantage of free events on campus and the city of Boston for inexpensive dates all year round.
